Synopsis from Goodreads:
Life’s. Little. Surprises.
The last thing seven-year-old Carrigan "Ace" Casper foresaw was an eight-year-old Heath Lovelly walking into her life the day her mother died. From that moment on, Heath sticks by her side, slowly becoming her strength, her confidant, and her entire world. What she doesn’t know is, she's his saving grace, too.
Ten years later, Ace is handed another crippling challenge that threatens everything in her almost perfect life. Only, this time, she doesn't turn to Heath, hiding the truth instead. But Heath knows Ace too well and won't back down easily. He's ready to do whatever it takes and will stay by her side until she accepts that their love is the kinda love worth fighting for.
Will he be her forever triumph or her unexpected downfall?
Two lives.
One story.
And an unexpected journey to falling in love.
My Thoughts
I'm not actually a big fan of best friends that fall in love with each other, so I really didn't know what to expect from this story. The first few parts didn't made me delve into the story right away, and I found myself just putting off in reading this. The stories of Ace and Heath was a swirl for me. There were a lot of things going on at the same time with their family, in their individual lives, and in their "friendship" itself. Because of this, I had a harder time grasping the story and it was a rocky start for me. However, as I continued to read on, I found myself liking it more and more.
It wasn't really the plot that caught me, but rather, it was the characters. Both of them were just amazing on how they can be just two mere individuals, but they complete each other. They make each other become a better person. The friendship that they have was really awesome, that they are always there for each other. I especially loved how Heath was always there for Ace, no matter what. There were just some times that he annoyed me for being a douche, and Ace for being whiney and in intense denial. Like, OHMYCRAP. It was the whole "what-ifs" state that got me wanting to hurl something, and I was just, will you just get on with it? during the first few parts.
The relationship between Ace and Heath was really fun and passionate. They are close with each other, and respects each other's space. I love how the both of them can be mature when it comes to the decisions of the other when one needs space. Towards the latter part of the story, a big bomb was dropped by Stone, and I think it would have been better if it was stretched out even more. It was very hurried compared to the pacing of the first half, which didn't really balance things out. I was in the middle of the hype, when bam, it just ended. Before I knew it, I was already reading the epilogue. /sad The dual POV and the bonus stories at the end were <3.
Forever Kinda Love is a beautiful story that made me ponder about what I've been doing all my life. It's about not taking anything for granted, and just going after it because we never know what the future holds for us.
